Multiplayer - if it happens - is a long way off. John hopes to get the basic Freeplay mode out in February.

So as you can see there is a definite difference, but the dark underground lighting and base color of the model does make the yellow selection look quite close to green. We'd probably need to push the yellow closer to red to make it somewhat orange to counteract this. Not a priority, but we'll look into it.

It's not exactly a code limitation (teams are a thing, it's easy to set up) but more of a balance issue in this case. Going forward we'll be designing levels to feel more realistic in this regard.

There are several reasons for this (the most straightforward of which is balance of the level). We're going to try to avoid it in future level construction but it wasn't an arbitrary decision - essentially if the enemies were fighting each other the level would be much, much easier.

No - you're playing as entirely different colonies in the external missions. The upgrades are intended to help you get through the tough formicarium challenges.

There are some reasons we've not done this - firstly graphically (it causes all sorts of issues with our setup), secondly for pathing reasons (we're already at the technical limit of pathfinding in Unreal Engine 4 as it stands).

Also - it would massively upset the balance and way the current levels are designed. Yes, in nature many species of ant can climb up practically anything, but in order for the game to behave like a game we have to impose restrictions on this.

This isn't to say there won't be climbing added later - but it would be specific objects, not a general feature.

It's a thought we've had. Would be a bit of fun - higher priorities at the moment but certainly a possibility!

It's a sort of "summon". We've got the mechanics in mind but haven't got them implemented yet (obviously). The icon is a whistle.

We've done well enough that we don't need more money beyond the initial purchase - but if you'd like to support in this way I'd heartily recommend buying a copy of the game on Steam for a friend or family member :)

If you have some loooooong stretches of time check out John's development stream videos for freeplay! It's early in the process so far but he really wants it to be a community-driven project so give him feedback and try to catch him when he streams.
