Can we start a Formicarium with a pure Atta colony instead then? This should be easily doable, right? (And yes, I know the dialogue probably woudn't fit because they're talking of ereptors but honestly I don't think most people would care about that)

I would love to have a species of ant who would have many tiny soldiers in one nursery

Atta soldiers aren't just tanks. They can cut any other ant in half easily, even for a human it's a very unpleasant experience to get bitten by one of those.

Inb4 the "taunt" ability makes them or minims combat-effective.
The taunt ability will completely break ereptors that have Formica rufa shooters.
You can get a glimpse on how ridiculous tanks combined with heavy hitters are in 2.1 when you attack one of the large hermit crabs right before the 4 large tiger beetles spawn - Atta soldiers combined with rufa shooters will be like the nuclear-powered version of this.

I assume the minims will be part of the fungus garden tiles and not actually be controllable by the player (which would make sense as those ants don't really do anything other than tending the fungus - even the brood is usually cared for by the minors).

Bugs / Troubleshooting / Re: Ants stuck at entrance in Freeplay

Happened to me in the formicarium level as well (middle entrance).

I personally wanted an upkeep mechanic, to drive the player either to stockpile food or the force them to take bigger risks as the difficulty level increased.  This would effectively stop players from turtleing,  and allow for more realistic, and interesting level design and  AI behavior.
100% agree, an actual upkeep would be great, different foods (sugar for upkeep, protein for new brood and if there's a lack of sugar for upkeep) would be even greater.

Why do you brood-boost a queen if you don't have an ID? Are the pupae from the same species?

1.2 ends after beating the final F. sanguinea wave even if mole crickets are present on the map.
1.1 once had the same bug but it got fixed there.

Suggestions & Feedback / Re: Spitters/Mortals
« on: July 02, 2018, 09:15:27 AM »
Mortars are only really effective when fighting small numerous weak enemies, preferrably at choke points.
Against everything else rapid fires are better as they can actually hit fast-moving enemies, something mortars absolutely fail at. At level 3 rapid fires even get a slow which enables them to kill pretty much everything except the most durable or numerous enemies before they can even make close combat contact.

Generally the Formica rufa unit balance is pretty terrible. The soldiers do far too little damage for their price and a group of cheap workers is almost always better to screen shooters than using actual soldiers. Regarding how the shooters' power exponentially explodes after a certain numbers large groups of rapid fires don't even need an escort at all. They just nuke everything before it can significantly damage them.

If anything it's the proof that you can queue up 1.5 hours of product placements and call it a "movie".

It's probably still not true scale (that would just break the game).
Formica fusca queens are around 12mm, an Atta cephalotes queen is 30mm (that means she's almost three times as long as the fusca queen). Those leafcutter queens are MASSIVE.

How's everyone's ants doing?

My Campos are eating tons of food.

This is their entire setup now (only about half of the colony is actually in the primary nest).

Btw, Lasius and Formica flights are happening right now in Europe.

Definitely 2.1 - it has a good pacing and uses the flood mechanics well. And it's just really nice to see your ants swarm out over the beach and across the entire map (unlike in 2.2 where you're just defending the same spot all the time).
