The soldiers in 2.X have higher health, so instead of constantly using food for workers, use soldiers. This is very true against ranged troops, since they could take them out fairly quickly. Workers are good in the beginning, but soldiers could be better, replenishing cost wise.

The narrator says on the 1.X levels that "soon they will go to the surface, where new challenges await." I would think that you would keep your original nest in the 1.X series, transfering over to the new levels. This could also apply to other underground levels.
There could also be a level that is post-worker stage, probably taking place as a species of ant that lacks the fat left over from the flight. The queen would need to hunt for food to feed the larva and herself for a couple days. The queen would need to survive attacks from predators, like ant patrols and big beetles while she obtains this food.

Perhaps the bugs themselves would need food to survive, and even growing to the next level of life if they survive. The level 2.1 talks about dis placing predators, but maybe one or more species actually need to be present to repopulate. Therefore, dis placing them forever or for a long period of time.

I have figured it out! If you rebuilt walls there are a couple things I would suggest.
1) You can not build them around the entrance.
2)Walls built in pathways (original or not) would still be treated as if they were pathways. Being targeted when there is not a path.
3) There would be 4 levels. The forth level helps brood chambers by upgrading them.(This could be treated as huminity control)

The Free-Play mode wouldn't load up, and there was no way I could exit the game. So I was stuck on the screen until I shut my computer down.

The genetics for this would come from the carpenter ant species and you would be able to make a new colony in a log or rock. The size and shape of the structure you choose will determine the size and shape of the nest. The location of the structure's location would also determine the types of enemies you would face while establishing your satellite colony. This could be implemented into free-play mode, you would just choose a open area instead.

Sounds pretty good.

I have addressed queen movement in a post before, but I didn't think about balancing. I agree with almost everything, except for the mixing ants, but that is only if you were talking about other ant species, not formica ereptor.

Hmm... never thought of rapid-shooters as a good fighter, especially against heavy enemies. As for free-play, it defiantly needs some work. I would agree with the rapid-spawning creatures. A few times I played, I would raided by two large Bach Tiger Beetles, and would die. It would also be cool to see slower larva development, since the day-night cycle seems slower already.

If you look at the map provided in the demo, its pretty obvious that the game takes place in Madagascar, far from any type of civilization.

You should be able to move your queen, because the queen is so close to the entrances, on she is directly linked to the entrance.

I started to wonder why it was so quiet in freeplay mode... Then I realized the guy doesnt talk about bug or food encounters, low food, and the environment in which you spawn. It would be cool to add him to the freeplay mode as a option, so if people dont want to listen to him, they could turn him off.

If the game kept evolving based on player feedback, it would be pretty cool. Im not talking about big updates, just kind of like new freeplay levels or new creatures. Little things, just like the ant world.

Maybe the aphids wouldnt respawn after killed? It would make them a priority in formicarium challenges.
